Training Chutes On & Offshore

RSS can provide a training chute for all offshore training requirements. The chute is supplied normally as a 3.63m chute that consists of three cells which are apposing. The training chute can be used on the offshore facility, land based customer training facility or training can be provided by us in Houston. Many training schools are now fitted with training chutes and training can also be provided at a recognized training school. As part of our total service approach we have a dedicated train the trainer program which is designed to allow customer selected key personnel to be trained and certified as trainers, these trainers then in turn provide training using the dedicated training chute for all crew, managers or visitors, this makes continued and ongoing training easy and cost effective as there is no need to contact RSS every time training of personnel is required.

RSS provide a ‘Train the Trainer’ program that comprises a morning classroom session then an afternoon session where the training chute is used to provide live training for trainees. The purpose of the training is to familiarize personnel in using this type of evacuation chute and particular emphasis is made on identifying any trainees that might have phobias such as: Claustrophobia, Vertigo or any type of phobia that could cause the evacuation to halt in a live evacuation event. Therefore it imperative that these phobias are identified during training as in most cases they can be overcome through continued training and familiarization with this type of evacuation chute system.

The Kevlar-Netted Fire-Resistant variable height chute system is designed for use over water or at sea where wave and wind action effect the base of the chute. This type of chute is designed to adjust under wave and swell conditions enabling evacuees to exit at any height through each of the 1.21m cells.

ONSHORE THREE- LAYERED TRAINING CHUTE

RSS can provide a training chute for all onshore training requirements. The chute is supplied normally as a 3.63m chute that consists of three layers. The outer layer is the flame and heat resistant layer, the middle layer provides the restriction to enable evacuees to descend the chute in a controlled manner and the inner chute is the structural layer that evacuees enter to descend through the chute column to ground. The training chute can be used for training at the customers facility or training can be provided by us in Houston.

As part of our total service approach we have a dedicated ‘train the trainer’ program which is designed to allow customer personnel to be trained and certified as trainers in their own right. These trainers then in turn, provide training for all of their staff, managers or visitors that may be required to use an evacuation chute. This enables continued and ongoing training making it easy and cost effective as there is no need to contact RSS every time training of personnel is required.

The Three Layered Chute System is utilized for High and Low Rise Buildings, Commercial, Industrial, Petrochemical, Aviation, Land Rig Derrickman Towers, Emergency Services and many more land based applications, where safe evacuation is required from height to ground in a controlled manner.
